These Terms of Service (the "Terms") govern your use of the Shinepass website, mobile apps, and any related services (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
1. About Shinepass
The Service is operated by Shinepass (Pty) Ltd ("Shinepass", "we", "us"). We connect customers to a network of independent partner car washes — for one-off bookings, subscription plans, and concierge valet pickups.
2. Eligibility & accounts
- You must be at least 18 years old and have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract.
- You agree to give us accurate, current and complete information when you sign up, and to keep it up to date.
- You're responsible for everything that happens on your account, so keep your password safe. Tell us straight away if you suspect unauthorised access.
- One person, one account — please don't create multiple accounts to game promotions.
3. The Service
The Service lets you find partner car washes, book wash slots, schedule a valet pickup, manage a subscription, and pay for it all in one place. We work hard to keep the Service running but we can't promise it'll always be available, error-free, or uninterrupted.
4. Subscriptions
- Plans — Basic (R299/month), Premium (R599/month) and Super Premium (R999/month). All prices are in South African Rand and include VAT.
- Billing — Subscriptions are billed monthly in advance from the day you sign up. We auto-renew until you cancel.
- Fair use — Basic and Premium include unlimited washes within fair-use limits (typically one wash per car per 24 hours). Super Premium includes a monthly valet allocation as described in-app.
- Pausing — You can pause a paid subscription for up to 90 days at a time. Your renewal date pushes out by the pause period.
- Cancellation — Cancel at any time in the app or by emailing support@shinepass.co.za. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing cycle — no exit fees, no retention calls.
- Price changes — If we change subscription prices we'll tell you at least 30 days in advance.
5. Pay-per-use & valet
If you're not on a subscription, each wash and each valet pickup is charged at the price shown in the app before you confirm the booking. Valet pickup currently starts at R149 and is included on the Super Premium plan.
6. Cancellations & refunds
- More than 1 hour before your slot — full refund or service credit, your choice.
- Within 1 hour of your slot — 50% service credit.
- No-show — no refund. We'll keep your slot for 15 minutes after the booking time.
- Quality issue — if the wash falls short of our standards, contact support within 24 hours. We'll arrange a re-wash or refund at our discretion.
- Subscription refunds — generally we don't refund the unused portion of a paid month, but we'll consider exceptional circumstances on a case-by-case basis.
Nothing in this section limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2008.
7. Partner washes
Partner car washes are independent businesses. They're responsible for the actual washing of your car. Shinepass:
- Vets each partner before onboarding, including site visits and team training.
- Monitors quality via customer ratings and removes partners that don't meet our standards.
- Will mediate any dispute between you and a partner and, where appropriate, issue a refund or service credit.
Beyond that, the contract for the actual wash is between you and the partner. Shinepass isn't a party to that contract.
8. Valet service
Where you book a valet, the driver is a vetted Shinepass employee or independent contractor and the transport of your vehicle is performed by Shinepass.
- Drivers are background-checked and licensed.
- You'll receive a live tracker link from the moment we collect your car until we return it.
- Vehicles in our possession during a valet booking are covered by partner insurance up to R250 000 per incident, in addition to your own motor cover.
- Please remove valuables from the car before pickup — we don't accept liability for personal items left inside.
9. Your obligations
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for anything illegal or fraudulent.
- Misuse, abuse, or interfere with the Service — including reverse engineering, scraping, or attempting to gain unauthorised access.
- Transfer, sell, or share your account with anyone else.
- Harass, threaten, or otherwise mistreat our partners, drivers, or support staff.
10. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent allowed by South African law (and without limiting your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2008), the Service is provided "as is" and "as available". We don't make any other warranties — implied or otherwise — about fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or uninterrupted availability.
11. Limitation of liability
- To the extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any direct losses arising from the Service is capped at the greater of (a) the fees you've paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) R5 000.
- We're not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive losses — for example, lost income, lost data, or loss of opportunity.
- Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be limited under South African law.
12. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify Shinepass and our directors, employees, partners, and service providers against any claim, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal costs) arising from your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the Service.
13. Termination
You can stop using the Service at any time by cancelling your subscription and deleting your account. We can suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms, if your use of the Service puts others at risk, or if we're required to do so by law. Where we terminate without cause, we'll refund the unused portion of any prepaid period.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. For material changes we'll give you at least 14 days' notice by email or in-app. If you don't agree with the change, you can cancel your subscription before it takes effect. Continued use of the Service after the change means you accept the new Terms.
15. Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. You and Shinepass agree that the courts of South Africa have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute relating to these Terms or the Service. Before going to court, we'd much rather sort it out — email support@shinepass.co.za first and we'll do our best to make it right.
